Imagine all the viruses, bacteria, fungi, insects, germs, bugs, mold, mildew, and animal diseases that live in the woods. Diseases cover everything in the woods – including trees that become wood. Diseases and bugs are also inside the wood. Diseases and/or bugs may have been why the tree was cut, or fell, down.
In many parts of the United States, you are not supposed to transport lumber and firewood more than 25/50 miles because the wood is likely infected with dangerous bugs and diseases. Don’t Move Firewood

We heat our kiln up to 130 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Similar to how the FoodSafety.gov tells us to cook burgers to kill everything in burgers.
You do not want to spray insecticides onto wood:
With our wood – you can relax knowing our wood has been sterilized. You don’t have to worry about breathing or eating food that was cooked with our wood. We do not spray dangerous chemicals on our wood.
