Lumber

Home / Lumber

The largest/best/most beautiful wood from tree recycling is sawn into lumber or wood slabs. Lumber we typically cut with a thickness of 4/4 (1 inch). Slabs are typically cut 8/4 (2 inches) thick. We can cut mantles, posts, beams 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, 10×10 or whatever size you need. If you would like other thicknesses or dimensions – just ask.

Unless you special order wood – we typically do not edge the boards as they come off the sawmill. We leave the live edges on the boards. You, the user, can then decide – leave both live edges on the board? Cut one live edge off – so one live edge and one straight edge. Or saw both live edges off the board.

Remember – lumber shrinks as you dry it. The thickness shrinks more as you plane and sand the wood. Lumber that that we cut exactly 1 inch thick – is usually less than 3/4 inch thick after drying, planing, and sanding.

If you need true 3/4 inch thick lumber – best to ask us to cut 1 and 1/8 to 5/4 thick lumber. Then you have extra thickness you can plane and sand.

We can sell you rough sawn lumber or do some of the finishing for you. Make sure the lumber is dried to the proper moisture content before you start finishing the wood.

If you want pine – we’ll saw pine into thickness and length you need. Note we are not certified (do not have a stamp) for making dimensional load bearing house construction lumber.

If you are a woodworker, craftsman, artist, carpenter, furniture maker, cabinet maker, general building contractor, or craft maker – let’s get together and talk about how we can help each other.
