The largest/best/most beautiful wood from tree recycling is sawn into lumber, live edge wood slabs, and beams. Slabs are thicker pieces of wood, typically only sawn on 2 sides. The other two sides are not sawn and have the bark (live edge) on them. We typically saw slabs 8/4 (2 inches) thick because 1. they are heavy and 2. to keep the cost down. We charge by the board foot – a 3 inch thick slab costs 50% more than a 2 inch thick slab. If it’s worth it to you and you are willing to pay for thicker slabs – we can saw up to around 10 inch thick slabs. If you have an idea of what you want (species, thickness, size, and clear or wood with character) we will see if we can accommodate you.
Slabs are used for desks, tables, bar and counter tops, fireplace mantels, book shelves. We can do both live edge and straight sawn edge. We can saw beams over 10 inches thick – but if it’s for load bearing construction – check on requirements if it needs to be certified. We do not sell construction certified lumber / beams.
We can sell you rough sawn lumber or do some of the finishing for you.
If you are a woodworker, craftsman, artist, carpenter, furniture maker, cabinet maker, general building contractor, or craft maker – let’s get together and talk about how we can help each other.
